As you can tell by my photo above, I decided to make this design a single color design. This means that you literally only need one sheet of iron on to make a shirt. This also means that you can be done in no time at all.
If you’re last minute crafter like me, then designs like this should be your favorites.
You can actually make almost all designs a single color to make them easier to cut out. All you have to do is weld all the elements together.
Not only will this make your entire design a single color, but it also makes it so that when you go to cut it out, it’s not in separate pieces. It comes out just as you have it in Design Space, for example. The elements stay just as they are and all you need to do is weed it and press it.
HERE’S HOW YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN NEW YEARS EVE SHIRT
Okay, first things first, you need a blank shirt. You can buy blank shirts almost anywhere, but my favorite brand for adult women is Bella + Canvas. This brand of shirts is so soft and it comes in so many colors and material blends.
You can actually pick these shirts up at an amazing price at your local Michaels which is where I like to buy mine. I usually stock up during their sales.
Here’s a quick tip if you decide you want to buy this brand of blanks at Michaels; you can use store coupons on them to make them cheaper!

Now that you have your blank shirt, and of course at least one sheet of iron on vinyl; also known as heat transfer vinyl, you’re ready to make your shirt.
You’re going to need to download the Free I Survived 2022 New Years Eve Svg file that you can find at the bottom of this post.
Once you’ve downloaded it to your computer, open up Design Space, and upload it in. Once you’ve done that, make sure to insert it into the Canvas and we’ll be ready to rock and roll.
USE CRICUT DESIGN SPACE TO WELD IT, SIZE IT, AND CUT IT
When you have the design inside Design Space Canvas, you’re going to want to first weld the design. You can do this by selecting all the elements and then clicking on the “Weld” option. This is going to make it so your design cuts out all at once, in one single color, and already ready to be pressed, no messing with the placement at all.
Next comes the sizing. I like to take my Cricut mat and put it over my shirt and decide just how many mat squares wide and tall my design needs to be. I can then manually adjust the size in Design Space using the mat guidelines.
If you already know how many inches wide and tall you want your design to be, you can just enter those dimensions in the size boxes.
And finally, let’s cut this design out! Once you’ve welded it and sized it, you’re going to hit the “Make It” button on the top right hand corner, and make sure you also click on the “mirror” button to make sure that it cuts out backwards, as per the iron on use instructions.
NOW LET’S WEED IT, PRESS IT, AND WEAR IT!
Now you’ll weed the design!
Quick fact about me … one of my favorite things to do in the world is weed iron on vinyl. I don’t know why, but it is so satisfying to me; even more than regular vinyl … actually, a lot more.
Back to the shirts though. Okay, so once you’ve your design all weeded, ad ready to press it. Make sure that you look at the manufactures recommendation for pressing that type of iron on, on the type of material you’re going to press it on first.
You want to make sure you do this, because this will make it so that when you press your shirt, you’re doing the right way, which will ensure that the design stays on the garment for a long period of time as designed. Sometimes if we don’t do this, the iron on will start peeling up after a few washes; which we all hate.
When you’re getting ready to press it, you can center the design, by folding it in half and also folding your shirt in half length wise. This will help you to align the design on the shirt.
Okay, now press that baby! How does it look? I think these shirts look amazing, and I hope you feel the same way.
Enjoy it, and happy new years my crafty friend!
