Who else loves all things “old red truck”? I seriously just cannot get enough of it y’all. I feel like for every holiday I just need something with this red truck on it. So it was only common sense for me that I created a Valentine’s Day SVG design with it.
I decided to use the Happy Valentine’s Day quote with this design, because I feel like it would look great as a framed wood sign or reverse canvas on a mantle or decorated buffet table.

For those of you who’ve never painted a sign and think this is a scary project to try at this moment, I would suggest that you look into reverse canvas tutorials. I think that would be a great starter “sign” project.
As a matter of fact, if you’re looking to try a reverse canvas project, I am happy to walk you through the steps that you will need to take.
First, you will want to gather your materials. You will need a wide blank canvas, some stencil vinyl (I LOVE this one!), acrylic paint, wood stain, an envelope opener, a staple gun, paint sponge brushes, the cut file, and your cutting machine.
The first thing you will need to do is remove the canvas part from the frame that’s holding it together. To do this I use an envelope opener to pull the staples out from behind. This can be a little tricky at first, but once you find a good groove you’ll be pulling those babies out really quick.
Once you’ve done that, you then want to stain your frame. If staining is not something you’re into, you can always use white or brown paint for your frame as well. Let this dry really well before you staple the canvas back on.
Now take the blank canvas and lightly trace the frame in the center of the canvas with a pencil. This will help you with design alignment.
At this time you can use your stencil vinyl to cut out your design and place it on the blank canvas and begin painting. I suggest doing one color at a time. And as soon as you complete the painting, remove the vinyl and let it dry fully.
To put the design together, you will align your frame with your design, using the area where you traced it, flip it over and use a staple gun to attach it together.
Don’t worry if you end up with canvas pieces sticking out of the sides of your frame. Once you’ve stretched it and stapled it on, you can just take some scissors and cut those extra pieces off to clean it up a little.
Note that although the back of this project is not always “pretty” there’s always things you can do to clean it up. For example you can take a piece of fabric, matching the color of your frame, and using a staple gun to attach it. This is a great way to make this project type more presentable, gift-able and sell-able.
QUICK NOTE: You can use this design for personal and commercial use. If you’d like to share it with your friends (I’d LOVE THIS!), I do ask that you just link them to this post and help support my website. Also, please don’t upload it to a print on demand (POD) website, or send it for mass production.
