We are t-minus 67 days until Halloween this year and I’m ready to start working on all my fall crafts. Are you?
Last year I made a countdown for Christmas and it was so fun that this year I decided, why not make one for Halloween? It’s a holiday that my girls love so much and since there’s candy to be had, they’re always asking how much longer until the day comes.
So here’s what I came up with. I hope you enjoy this FREE Halloween Countdown SVG cut file.

This project is easy to create on a framed wood sign, but if you’re a newbie, a reverse canvas is just the project for you.
You will need a blank canvas, preferably a 11×14 inch one. They always have them on sale at Michaels, in case you’re wondering where to pick them up.
You will also need some acrylic paint, chalk paint and stencil vinyl. I love to use Oramask 813 for projects where I’m making stencils because it’s easy to get nice crisp lines on the paint without bleeding and it’s easy to pick up when you’re all done.
P.S. You can also make this project with heat transfer vinyl, aka iron-on vinyl. Simply make your cuts and press the iron-on material to the canvas.
You’re probably wondering how you’re going to get a “framed” look with a canvas, and I’m happy to walk you through the process.
First, turn your canvas with the back side towards you. You will see that the canvas is stapled down to the frame. You will need to take these staples out.
Next, you will either paint on (and let dry) or press the iron-on vinyl to the canvas using a household iron or heat press, preferred.

Once this is completed, you will need to decide if you will be staining or painting the frame. You will want to do this to get the same look as the photos above. You can find cheap cans of stain at any craft or home store, including Walmart.
To finish your sign, you will want to use the back side of the frame and a heavy duty staple gun to stretch the canvas and attach it safely to the frame. This will give you a beautiful sign that you can place on your mantle, shelf and you can even hang it up by adding a clip to the back side.
QUICK NOTE: You can use this design for PERSONAL USE and COMMERCIAL USE. If you’d like to share it with your friends (I’d LOVE THIS!), I do ask that you just link them to this post and help support my website. Also, please don’t upload it to a print on demand (POD) website, or send it for mass production.
Also, I have a quick favor to ask. Before you download this freebie, please, FOLLOW ME on Instagram (CLICK HERE) and PIN one of the images above.
Thank you so much for your support, and if you make anything with this design, tag me @PerfectStylishCuts, I love seeing your makes.
