To make these Christmas koozies all you need to do is find a can cooler that you like, in any size or style that you like.
There are many different types to choose from, but I went with these buffalo plaid ones, because they’re so simple yet festive.
Here are all the things I used to make this FREE Fueled By Beer And Christmas Cheer Koozie.
- A Blank Koozie, Also Known As Can Coolers (I found this Buffalo Check one on Amazon.)
- 1 Sheet of White Iron-On Vinyl, also known as HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl)
- A Good Heat Source. I will be using my Cricut Easy Press Mini (Your household iron will do just fine as well.)
- A Teflon Sheet to cover your iron-on vinyl when you go to press it.
- Your Cricut Cutting Machine With Design Space Readily Available

Before you begin cutting your design, you’ll want to make sure to measure just how wide and tall you’ll want it to be on the Christmas koozie.
To measure I like to use a measuring tape to figure out how many inches tall and wide my design should be exactly.
Make sure you leave a little bit of room on each side of the design to make sure it looks nice.
Let’s Make A Christmas Koozie / Can Cooler With Cricut!
STEP 1: Upload the FREE Fueled By Beer And Christmas Cheer Koozie SVG File to Design Space and size it according to the measurement you want it to be.
Remember to make sure the little lock icon is closed when you go to size your design to make sure it doesn’t get distorted and retains the correct size proportions.
What I like to do for koozies and can coolers is to place a rectangle shape in my Design Space Canvas, the same size as the area of my koozie that I’m using, and then align my design within that rectangle shape to get a good sense of how big it will be once I go to apply it.
STEP 3: Cut and Weed Your Design.
Since you’re working with iron-on vinyl, you absolutely need to remember to mirror your design before you send it to cut.
You can do this once you’ve hit the “Make It” button in Design Space.
Make sure that when you apply your iron-on vinyl to your cutting mat, the shiny part is face down on the mat, and the vinyl itself is facing up.
Once you’ve selected your iron-on vinyl material, send it to cut the design, then weed it.
This means that you will need to remove all of the excess vinyl from your vinyl sheet, leaving just the design itself on the clear transfer paper.
Since you’ll be cutting this design in only a single color of iron-on vinyl, once you’ve weeded your design it’s ready to press.
If possible, trim a nice rectangle around your design to help you with alignment when you go to apply it.
STEP 4: Align & Press The Design Onto The Towel.
Now you’re ready to press your design onto the koozie!
The first step I like to take is to allow my Cricut Easy Press Mini to come to temperature.
I use the medium setting for almost all of my projects.
If you’re using your household iron for this, just make sure that it gets really hot, but not too hot.
I like to use a setting Cotton setting, depending on the kind of material that my koozie is made of.
And now we can press the design!
Make sure that your design looks right for you by making sure that you can read it correctly, and that the clear transfer tape is on top.
I like to cover my design with a Teflon sheet, but in a pinch a thin pillow case will do just fine as well.
After you’ve pressed it for about 20-30 seconds, you can remove the transfer sheet, as per the directions of the iron-on vinyl material that you’re using, and reveal your Christmas Koozie.
And there you have it! It’s just perfect right? lol
You’ve made a beautiful Christmas koozie that you can use the entire month of December when you open your favorite beer.
