Where are all my face mask makers and decorators at? Today I want to share with you this FREE Baby It’s Covid Outside SVG file that is perfect to if you’re going to be customizing Christmas face masks with your cutting machine this year.
I don’t know why I never thought about making cut files that could be used on face masks, but I had several of you all reach out to me and ask if I was going to make any, and this quote came up. I went for it, and here it is!

This design is really easy to use and it can really be pressed on any fabric face mask that you have available. What I love most is that this quote kind of sounds like “Baby It’s Cold Outside” which is a classic Christmas quote, and so it makes it much more appropriate for us right now in 2020.
Okay, so let me walk you through cutting this design and putting it on a face mask for yourself.
Like I said, it’s really simple and you can get it done in no time at all.
P.S. You can use this design as you please. You don’t need to use it on a face mask, if that’s not your thing. This design would also be great on a small wood sign for the mantle or on a holiday t-shirt.
How To Make A Custom Christmas Face Mask
If you want to press this design on a face mask, like I did in the photo above, here’s how you do it.
YOU’RE GOING TO NEED
– Your Cricut cutting machine. (I have the Cricut Maker and I absolutely love it!)
– 1 sheet of Of HTV / Iron On Vinyl in whatever color you want to use. (Note: HTV and Iron On are the same thing. Also, I like to get my iron on vinyl at Expressions Vinyl.)
– A Blank Fabric Face Mask (I’ve been using the Hanes brand face mask blanks that you can find. The red one used in the photo above is from Amazon though.)
– A Heat Press or the Cricut Easy Press (If all you have is a household iron, it’ll work too. I’m using my Cricut Easy Press Mini for this project.)
– The FREE Baby It’s Covid Outside SVG File that you can download at the bottom of this post.
LET’S GET STARTED!
The first step is to download your free cut file and upload it to Cricut Design Space. I recommend that you download the SVG file specifically because that one is easiest to work with in Design Space.
Your next step will be to size your design according to the size of the face mask that you’ll be placing it on.
THIS IS HOW I SIZE MY DESIGNS FOR FACE MASKS
What I like to do here is to take my cutting mat and place it above the face mask I’m going to use to figure out how big my design should be.
I’m basically looking to figure out how tall and wide my design needs to be. It’s really easy to count “squares” on a Cricut mat and then go into Design Space and size it accordingly there.
SEND IT TO YOUR CUTTING MACHINE AND WEED IT
Once you’ve sized your design, IF you’re using a single color of iron on vinyl, like I did above, I suggest that you select the entire design and “Weld” it together. This will help it to all cut out in one cut and thus make it much easier to weed and place.
Okay, now all you need to do is “mirror” it, and send it to your machine to cut. Once it comes out, simply weed the excess vinyl and you’re ready to go.
I told you this was an easy project to do!
NOW LET’S PRESS IT AND FINISH YOUR CUSTOM CHRISTMAS FACE MASK!
What you want to do when you’re going to press your design onto a face mask is to first press the face mask. This will help you to press out any creases to help your design be aligned and not between folds which could distort the mask and the design.
Once you’ve given it a good press, just align your iron on vinyl and give it a good press using the directions from the vinyl manufacturer that you’re using.
In my case, I like to use Siser Easy Weed iron on vinyl and using my Cricut Easy Press Mini, I set it to medium and press it for about 20 seconds. If this helps you, I’m glad, but please follow the vinyl manufactures directions. Not all HTV works the same ;).

This is a really easy project that can be duplicated using any design that you’d like really. I hope you take this new knowledge of pressing designs onto face masks and do it up!
We can all use more face masks right?
AND JUST IN CASE YOU’RE WONDERING …
FONTS I USED IN THIS DESIGN
– For the words in a “script” font I used the font Dallon from On The Spot Studio.
THE FACE MASK BLANKS I LIKE TO USE
– I like to use the Hanes brand blank face masks. I get mine at Walmart usually. When I use colored ones, I always shop on Amazon! I suggest just searching for “____ (insert color here) face masks” to get the best results. The mask I used for this project can be found here.
