Am I the only one who loves to craft for home decor? I hope not! If you’ve never dived into this aspect of crafting with your cutting machine, you should try it out.

This week I’m sharing with you 4 free arrow word SVG files that would look great on a simple sign, reverse canvas sign or just a piece of wood that you may have lying around the house.

If you’re wondering how you can go about making this type of sign with your cutting machine, it’s very simple. Let me walk you through it.

Oh and before I go any further into this post, I do just want to let you know that you can use these arrow words in many different projects that are not sign projects; so don’t feel like they can’t take these and use them in other ways.

How To Make An Arrow Word Sign

So the first thing that you will need is some supplies. I suggest using a stencil vinyl for this project. My favorite is the Oramask 813 material that you can find HERE. * If you don’t have any stencil material, you can use removable vinyl in the same way ;).

You will also need a prepared sign, piece of wood or a reverse canvas and some paint.

Now that you have your supplies ready to go. All you need to do is download the FREE Arrow Words SVG files from the bottom of this post and upload them to your cutting machine software. That can be either Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio. I recommend using the SVG file instead of the other file types to make this process faster.

Once you’ve uploaded the SVG file, ungroup the arrow words included and select the one that you would like to cut. The files I’m sharing come with 4 different arrow words, so just right click and ungroup the designs and select which ones you’d like to use.

The next step is to size the design according to your sign length and width and send it to cut. Remember that you do not need to mirror this project as you will be transferring it sticky side down.

Once you’ve cut your design, weed it stencil style, meaning you will be removing the design itself and leaving the negative parts. Once you’ve done that, then using transfer paper lift it up and trim around to make it fit as you’d like on your sign.

Now your stencil is ready and all you have to do is center it on your sign or piece of wood or reverse canvas and paint it. To avoid paint bleeding, I suggest using minimal paint. The best method here is to use a dry brush or a sponge brush.

Viola! Now you’re finished. Let it dry and then hang it up or place it wherever you’d like. Wasn’t that fun? I love using my cutting machines to make home decor pieces. They also make for great gifts!

QUICK NOTE: You can use these designs for personal and commercial use. If you’d like to share them with your friends (I’d LOVE THIS!), I do ask that you just link them to this post and help support my website. Also, please don’t upload it to a print on demand (POD) website, or send it for mass production.

I have a quick favor to ask. Before you download this freebie, please JOIN the Facebook Group (CLICK HERE), FOLLOW ME on Instagram (CLICK HERE) and if you can, please PIN one of the images above.
